Technology Underwriting Greater Good (TUGG), a non-profit arm of Boston’s tech community hosted their 13th annual TUGG Wine and Tequila Party on May 23, 2019, and Xpeditr was honoured to manage all wine shipping needs for the event.
TUGG was founded in 2009 with two main objectives in mind; to bring together Boston’s best entrepreneurs, VCs and technologists as a community, and leverage this group to the source, identify and fund Boston’s best social entrepreneurial ventures. TUGG finds innovative non-profits tackling big, hard problems in their communities and they write the first check to make their programming a reality. In addition to the tech-driven community initiatives supported by TUGG, the non-profit also hosts annual charity events including:
- 2010 – TUGG hosts their first official Tech Charity Wine Party to raise over $70,000 for three new tech initiatives identified by the community.
- 2011 – TUGG expanded their annual event to include Tech Gives Back, a day of service across the community launched with 400 tech leaders.
- 2013 – TUGG mobilized a response effort to the Boston Marathon bombing, raising over $325,000 in just a few weeks in addition to their annual Wine Party which included a record-breaking 1000+ participants for the first time.
TUGG is one of the most innovative organizations at the intersection of tech and social impact in the country, so much so they were recognized in 2015 by the Greenlight Fund. To date, TUGG has over 12,000 partners in New England, having raised over $1 million and funded 26 new startups since their inception.
What’s special about TUGG, according to founding partner Chris Lynch, is that it brings together different constituencies that would not normally get together; bringing together venture capitalists with people who have dedicated their lives to the service of others.
Xpeditr was proud to be a part of the 13th annual TUGG Wine and Tequila Party, ensuring that all wine transportation was completed safely with temperature control. Fine wines were donated by Domaine Carneros, Chateau Boswell, Pete’s Mountain, Constant, and Quill, and Xpeditr delivered the bottles to the Boston Center for Arts in preparation for the TUGG event.
